L’interazione tra i Media Studies, disciplina che si occupa del ruolo dei media nella società e nella cultura, e l’intelligenza artificiale prende forma nel progetto in relazione ai seguenti ambiti:

• Automatic recognition of iconemes (visual elements with historical and cultural identity) for serial analysis and tagging of non-fiction audiovisual heritage;
• Retrieval and correlation of relevant documents for an audiovisual heritage corpus through the semantic web.
• Automatic classification of images and sequences of cinematic and videographic images, whether analog or natively digital.
